WORLD QUALITY WEEK | One-day leadership workshop "Making Excellence a Habit: From Compliance to Performance."

7 October 2024 • Sarah Medcraf

As part of QHSE Aberdeen Limited’s ongoing commitment to excellence and continuous improvement, the company is thrilled to participate in this year's World Quality Week, scheduled from November 11th to 15th. The theme for 2024, "Quality: From Compliance to Performance," speaks directly to the shift from simply meeting standards to achieving true operational excellence.

All too often, leadership teams fall into the trap of focusing solely on compliance, inadvertently creating a workplace culture that values doing "just enough" to get by, often at the cost of potential innovation. Even the phrase “commitment to continual improvement” can end up as an empty gesture, a box to be ticked rather than a genuine pursuit of growth and excellence. This mindset can leave quality professionals feeling as if they alone are responsible for nurturing a quality culture that surpasses expectations, despite facing significant resistance within the organisation.

The PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) model is a cornerstone of effective quality management, intended to support teams in planning for success, executing thoughtfully, assessing opportunities for improvement, and refining strategies based on lessons learned. However, many organisations fall into a more stagnant version of this model: they plan to do what has always been done, execute the same routines, check only to ensure nothing has deviated from past methods, and avoid action that might seem risky or disruptive to productivity. While some may label this as risk-averse, the reality is that this kind of thinking can lead to missed opportunities far greater than any perceived risk, stifling growth and adaptability.

On the other hand, when employees are empowered to contribute meaningfully and supported in their efforts to drive positive change, the entire organisation reaps the benefits. This approach leads to increased efficiency, enhanced customer satisfaction, and a reputation for unwavering excellence. Quality initiatives, when fully embraced, go beyond mere compliance—they cultivate high-performing, agile teams that are adaptable and primed for sustained, long-term success.

To mark #WorldQualityWeek 2024, QHSE Aberdeen is proud to introduce a one-day leadership workshop titled "Making Excellence a Habit: From Compliance to Performance." Scheduled for Friday, November 15th, at our Westhill training facility, this workshop is designed to help leadership teams understand, evaluate, and transform their quality culture. It aims to inspire teams to move beyond compliance, enhancing their performance and setting the foundation for continued success.

Lunch will be provided, and attendees will gain valuable insights on how to drive their organisations toward a culture of excellence.

For those interested in joining the movement towards quality transformation, we invite you to participate in our one-day leadership course. Let’s make World Quality Week 2024 a stepping stone towards a high-performing future. Contact us for more details and to secure your spot—let's work together to make excellence a habit.
