Rotary Elgin are organising a Swimarathon on Saturday 25h March in Lossiemouth Community Swimming Pool between 2 and 4pm. Funds generated will go directly to the End Polio Now campaign. Individuals or teams can take part, and this could be an idea team building event, demonstrating your organisations corporate social responsibility and community involvement.

Polio is a disease which still affects many people across the globe. The Bill Gates foundation have, with the assistance of Rotary International, raised significant amounts of money to provide the necessary vaccines and inoculations to successfully eradicate the illness in most but not all parts of the world.

Rotary Elgin are holding a Swimarathon in Lossiemouth Swimming Pool on Saturday 25th March between 2 and 4 p.m to raise both awareness and much needed money to continue the fight against Polio. Through this initiative we are also encouraging people of all ages to go swimming and to highlight the global campaign to eradicate Polio.

While billions of children have already been vaccinated and deaths prevented, the target of a Polio free world is very close- your help can assist!

Our fund raising event consists of a sponsored swimming for up to a hour in the Lossiemouth Pool either individually or as part of a team with the income generated assisting the” End Polio Now “campaign. This is a great opportunity to team build, get fit and to help the Rotary Foundation Charity.

In addition to your entry fee, we would encourage swimmers although not essential to raise additional funds through sponsorship.

Rotary Elgin President Martin Birse said” We are delighted to arrange this fun event and would encourage swimmers to take part. Sponsorship can be either over the hour or by number of lengths swum- the entry fee and all such income will assist with Charity. The event itself is not about winning but taking part and raising as much money as possible.”
