SSEN Transmission Staff Spread Festive Cheer with Toy Donation to Hospitals

19 December 2024 • Sarah Medcraf

Staff at electricity network organisation SSEN Transmission have come together to spread joy and support the local community by donating over 250 toys to babies and children at four hospitals close to their four main offices in Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen and Glasgow.

The heartfelt initiative was organised by SSEN Transmission’s Sammy Hyett, who encouraged others across the business to collectively gather a wide range of new toys, including games, books, and educational materials, to be distributed to babies and children currently being cared for at hospitals across Scotland.

The staff's collective efforts aim to brighten the children’s time in the hospital and bring smiles during what can be a challenging time for families.

"We’re thrilled to be able to give back to the local communities close to our four main offices this Christmas," said Sammy Hyett, Development Project Manager at SSEN Transmission. "Our staff across our Perth, Inverness, Aberdeen and Glasgow offices really got behind the initiative to gather these donations, and we hope these toys bring some festive cheer and joy to the children and their families at Ninewells, Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, Raigmore and the Royal Children’s Hospital in Glasgow. It’s our small way of spreading happiness this festive season."

The toys were handed over to the four hospitals earlier this week, and the gifts will be distributed to children of all ages, ensuring that each young patient receives a special present this Christmas. Hospital staff expressed their thanks for the donation, acknowledging the positive impact it will have on the children and their families during their stay.

SSEN Transmission is committed to supporting and uplifting local communities across its network areas, and this toy donation is just one example of the many ways in which its staff contribute to good causes throughout the year.

Headquartered in Perth, SSEN Transmission is responsible for the electricity transmission network across the north of Scotland. SSEN Transmission is developing a £20 billion investment programme, known as the Pathway to 2030 projects, that will support thousands of jobs and provide a major boost to local and national economies.

These investments are a major upgrade of the network across the north of Scotland, enabling the connection and transportation of renewable energy to demand centres across the country and are part of a GB-wide renewal of the transmission network required to meet UK and Scottish Government clean power and energy security targets.
