SMALL BUSINESS SATURDAY!
We caught up with Kathryn of Relax, Restore and Rebalance
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
I love the flexibility of being able to offer the treatments that both myself and my clients love. After spending 16 years working 12 hour shifts as a nurse it’s great to be able to decide my own hours.
What’s been the most rewarding moment in your journey as a small business owner?
Growing my own business and being able to leave my nursing career and be a full time self-employed complementary therapist. I just love what I do, and I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.
What’s one thing you wish more people knew about the products or services you offer?
I love clean beauty and take a natural approach to skincare and ageing well naturally. I only use COSMOS-certified organic skincare products, which are packed full of skin-loving antioxidant rich ingredients, as well as using relaxing facial massage techniques to soften the facial features and crystal tools and lifting and sculpting techniques naturally lift, sculpt and tone the face, neck and jawline
What’s a typical day like for you as a small business owner?
I am always in my room super early to make sure everything is prepared and ready for my clients, especially in the winter as I have an electric blanket on my massage couch to keep my clients warm and cosy. Treatment wise, no two days are the same for me which is great as I love the variety. One day I could have massages and facials, the next day it might be reflexology and reiki.
What do you do to stay motivated and inspired?
I love to expand my knowledge and skills by studying CPD courses (continuing professional development) and reading books. This means I can further individualise the treatments I already offer as well as having new treatments to offer and make sure they get the best treatment possible.
What does being part of the small business community mean to you?
Being part of the small business community is invaluable as it means being part of a network of entrepreneurs and owners who share the unique challenges of running a smaller-scale business. As a lone worker it used to feel lonely at times but I know I have support form other small business owners cheering me own and encouraging me.
