A charity that supports thousands of blind and deaf people in the north-east of Scotland is recruiting for a new fundraiser.

North East Sensory Services (NESS) is looking for a Community Fundraising Co-ordinator with events experience to join its leadership team.

The full-time post will be based in Aberdeen, but the successful candidate’s work will also cover Dundee, Angus, Aberdeenshire and Moray where NESS operates.

They will report directly to the chief executive and will be expected to plan and develop a range of fundraising activities and events.

The role involves promoting the charity, presenting to potential supporters and developing a network of contacts.

Every year, NESS runs a number of fundraising events, including a black-tie charity ball, a football themed Dine with the Dons lunch and also a Dine in the Dark awareness experience.

It also helps organise the Chapelton Bike Ride as part of its charity partnership with the event.

All fundraising activities are aimed at raising money and awareness of the charity’s services, with all donations collected going towards helping those with visual and hearing impairments and making a difference to their lives.

NESS runs lipreading classes and social clubs, offers support for all ages including children and young people through its specialist services, and provides training for the use of assistive technology.

It exists to support people with sight and hearing problems to live more independently.

“NESS is currently recruiting for a new Community Fundraising Co-ordinator to organise and oversee our fundraising efforts.

“Our usual fundraising routes were hampered by the Covid pandemic, however we are pleased to be in a position to organise regular events and in-person meetings again.

“Working for NESS can be hugely rewarding as all funds that are raised goes towards helping people with visual and hearing impairments live more independently.

“Those affected by sensory loss are on a unique journey, and the services we provide reflect that.
