A site manager, aftercare manager, joiner, two labourers and a team leader were recognised last week for the dedication to their work, amassing an incredible 180 years for Robertson between them.
The six employees picked up their awards at the annual Robertson Outstanding Contribution Awards (ROCAs) held this year at Cameron House Hotel by Loch Lomond as part of the company’s leadership conference.
Five of the group work for Robertson Construction Northern, the founding business which has been delivering high-quality projects across Moray, the Highlands & Islands, Lochaber and Aberdeenshire since 1966.
Achieving a remarkable 40 years of work for Robertson, Neil Ross began his career in joinery, manufacturing windows and doors and is now a team leader of the Robertson Timber Engineering team. Supervising manufacturing at the Elgin factory, Neil takes immense pride in delivering high-quality products and is known for his meticulous approach to his work.
Also with 40 years of service, as a labourer, John Donnelly has made a lasting impact on the local construction industry in Elgin and is well known for mentoring many younger workers over the years, passing on his skills and experience to support the next generation.

As well as his work for Robertson, Neil is a keen fundraiser and has been recognised for his charitable activities.

Karl Thompson wasn’t able to make the event in person but also celebrates 25 years with the business. As a labourer, Karl’s commitment and dedication to this demanding and physically intensive role is well known to colleagues. Having worked on projects across the Highlands and Moray, Karl is highly sought after by teams and was most recently involved in the £60m single living accommodation project at RAF Lossiemouth for the Ministry of Defence.
Brian McQuade, Chief Operating Officer, Robertson Group, said: “Long service like this speaks volumes about the culture and family values we have at Robertson. One where dedication and loyalty is rewarded and recognised and where people want to stay, grow and make a difference. Beyond their own contributions, many of them have played a vital role in mentoring and supporting the next generation too, passing on their skills and values.”
