Do you have an interview for a job role coming up? or do you know a young person that is?
Then why not talk them through 5 top tips that are useful to prepare for an interview.
These tips can help you to be more confident when sitting down with an employer.
- Research the Company
Make sure you know as much as possible about the company. Understand the products, services, values and purpose. This show that you're genuinely interested and help you tailor your answers to align with the company’s goals
- Practice Interview Questions
Prepare answers for common interview questions such as:
"Tell me about yourself."
"Why do you want to work here?"
"What are your strengths and weaknesses?"
Practice with a friend or family member to get comfortable talking about yourself and your experiences.
- Be Punctual
Arrive at least 10-15 minutes early. This shows that you are punctual and respect the time of those interviewing you. Greet everyone you meet politely and remember to smile and maintain eye contact throughout. Body language can speak volumes about your confidence!
- Ask Thoughtful Questions
At the end of the interview, you'll likely be asked if you have any questions. This is your chance to show your interest and curiosity. Ask about the team you'll be working with, what a typical day looks like, or opportunities for growth within the company.
- Dress Appropriately
First impressions matter. Dress in a clean, professional outfit suitable for the company’s dress code.
