Moray’s leading business organisation has relocated its office to the new Moray Sports Centre in Linkwood, Elgin. The Chamber of Commerce, which is also the home of Moray Speyside Tourism moved into an office inside the new multi-million-pound facility last week.
The move to the new facility will be temporary, pending the outcome of the Tourism Business Improvement District campaign in the new year, and reflects both the recent transfer of DYW operations to UHI Moray College and the business requirements of the Tourism and Chamber teams.
Moray Speyside Tourism, the region’s Destination Marketing Organisation (DMO) has operated under the auspices of Moray Chamber since 2014. Moray Speyside Tourism is currently campaigning for a Business Improvement District which will determine its future. For the first time, the tourism industry has their say on the future of tourism in Moray Speyside, with results expected from the ballot in the new year.
Upon the outcome of the ballot, both the Moray Speyside Tourism and Moray Chamber teams can seek to secure a long-term premise, with both organisations still under one roof to support the collaborative work that is already ongoing.
Commenting on the move, Sarah Medcraf, Chief Exec of Moray Chamber of Commerce said; “I am delighted that the Chamber has a new, albeit temporary home in Moray Sports Centre – it’s a wonderful building with great facilities and I’m very much looking forward to welcoming Chamber members to our new office at an event in the next few weeks.”
Sarah Medcraf continued: “Our move to Moray Sports Centre allows us to continue to provide great service to our members. With meeting room space for hire and Cobbs Café for more informal meetings, as well as great parking, we can continue to be the go-to networking organisation in the region.”
Moray Sports Centre officially opens Friday 30
th August and has Olympic Gold medal winner Heather Stanning MBE taking the honours of cutting the ribbon.
