Mortgage Advice Bureau – Elgin Celebrates 5 Years in Business

23 May 2024 • Sarah Medcraf

Mortgage Advice Bureau – Elgin proudly marks its fifth anniversary in business, celebrating a journey of growth, community engagement, and exceptional customer service. Founded in 2019 by a seasoned mortgage adviser Kym Murphy with nearly two decades of experience, Mortgage Advice Bureau has quickly become a trusted name in mortgage advice in the region.

Kym’s career began in 2000 with a high street bank, where she developed a deep expertise in mortgages. Transitioning to the intermediary market in 2005, her passion for delivering personalised service grew, culminating in the establishment of Mortgage Advice Bureau – Elgin. Just a year after opening, MAB received the Elgin BID service award for best local professional and the Ian Widdowson Customer Service Award, reflecting its commitment to excellence.

With support from local businesses, including Moray Chamber and Elgin BID, and driven by consistent client demand, Mortgage Advice Bureau – Elgin has expanded its operations to include advisers in both Elgin and Inverness. The team provides tailored mortgage advice to meet the unique needs and circumstances of each client, whether they are first-time buyers, seeking to remortgage, investing in buy-to-let properties, or moving homes. They offer access to over 12,000 mortgage deals from more than 90 lenders, including exclusive deals not available directly to customers or on the high street. Additionally, they provide essential advice on protecting clients and their families when purchasing a home.

Customer service and personal touch are at the core of Mortgage Advice Bureau – Elgin's philosophy. Understanding that clients lead busy lives, offering flexible contact methods and appointment times, whether in person, via web chat, or over the phone, including weekend options. Their MyMAB app acts as a digital mortgage coach, helping clients save, plan, and track their home-buying journey, with direct communication with their personal mortgage adviser for efficient support.

In a recent survey, 74% of employees indicated a higher likelihood of accepting a job offer if the employer provided a good benefits package, and 75% said they were more likely to stay in such a job. Recognising this, Mortgage Advice Bureau – Elgin offers fee-free mortgage and protection advice as a dedicated employee benefit service, available at workplaces or convenient times, ensuring employees feel valued and supported.

Community contribution is a vital aspect of Mortgage Advice Bureau – Elgin's ethos. Kym and the team actively supports Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) Moray with school-based workshops, promoting financial education to local secondary students. These efforts help students build financial knowledge and confidence, preparing them for future careers. With the decline of high street banking institutions, it is crucial to inspire the younger generation to consider financial services as a career path and equip them with the necessary tools for sound financial decisions.

MAB also demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting the local small business community, making numerous referrals to local companies and appreciating the business received in return. This mutual support has been instrumental in the success over the past five years.

Mortgage Advice Bureau – Elgin looks forward to continuing its journey of providing expert mortgage advice, exceptional customer service, and meaningful community contributions for many years to come.
