Moray Chamber of Commerce Announces Outfit Moray as Beneficiary for Annual Dinner

24 July 2023 • Sarah Medcraf

Moray Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to announce that Outfit Moray has been chosen as the nominated beneficiary for its Annual Business Dinner. The Chamber received a large number of applications, and whilst all were very worthy, the decision to support Outfit Moray was made after careful consideration. Moray Chamber of Commerce is honoured to have the opportunity to contribute to their invaluable work.

Tony Brown MBE, CEO of Outfit Moray, expressed his gratitude, stating: "We are incredibly grateful to Moray Chamber of Commerce and their directors for selecting us as their nominated beneficiary for the year.

The demand for our services has more than doubled in the past two years as the number of young people in Moray requiring additional support continues to rise. This increase in demand necessitates a matched increase in income. However, the current economic crisis has made fundraising even more challenging.

Therefore, this support from Moray Chamber of Commerce is tremendously appreciated and will enable us to assist more young people in Moray through our comprehensive program of life-changing activities."

Outfit Moray, celebrating 20 years of operation, has been instrumental in providing carefully tailored programs of outdoor learning and adventure activities for schools, youth organizations, families, and communities in Moray. With over 5,000 attendances by young people annually, of which at least 1,000 are classified as vulnerable or disadvantaged, Outfit Moray offers a wide range of outdoor experiences, including bushcraft, archery, coasteering, canoeing and kayaking.

Transportation often poses a barrier to participation, particularly for vulnerable young people from local groups and schools. To ensure the safe and convenient transportation of these individuals to and from the venues in Moray, Outfit Moray relies heavily on their fleet of minibuses. The funds donated through the Chamber Auction will be utilized to secure a second-hand minibus, enabling them to continue transporting young people comfortably and in a more environmentally sound manner.

Sarah Medcraf, CEO of Moray Chamber of Commerce, commented, "We received an overwhelming number of applications to be the beneficiary at this year's annual dinner, making it a challenging task for our judging panel. We are delighted to support Outfit Moray as they commemorate their 20th anniversary. We have received some remarkable auction prizes which have been generously donated by local businesses, and our aim is to raise as much as possible to support the remarkable work carried out by Outfit Moray."

The annual dinner, now in its 18th year, will take place on Friday, September 29th, at Gordon Castle. The event will bring together 400 representatives from Moray's vibrant business community for an evening of celebration and networking.
