Trainee Sign Maker
This is an exciting opportunity for training and developing a enthusiastic trainee sign maker to join the small, friendly team. Fraser Signs is are looking for a committed, hard working individual with a great work ethic, good people skills, flexibility and good problem solving whilst working to a very high standard.
The job role would involve sign making and vinyl work, an interesting and challenging job for a great local company.
- Weeding vinyl and applying vinyl to different materials such as Acrylic, ACM, Foamex
- Using plot cutters, laminators and printers
- Manufacturing a range of bespoke signs from scratch
- The use of power tools (drills, saws etc)
- The key skills and qualities we are looking for in an individual are the following and are a MUST:
- Have exceptional attention to detail
- Be able to take measurements and follow a brief
- Confident communicator and be able to ask questions when unsure
- Have a clean & tidy work ethic
- To demonstrate a mature, considered approach to workplace issues and relationships
- Be proactive, keen and enjoy environments where it is fast moving and every day is different
- Is passionate about wanting to learn a trade
- Able to listen, follow direction and take responsibility for the items they are making
- Driving licence preferable.
*Salary subject to experience - incremental increase in wage for skills gained within position*

Full Time Hours (40 Hours per week)
Job Responsibilities & Duties:
- Interpreting briefs accurately with a great understanding of different signage and manufacturing techniques
- Maintaining specifications by ensuring all production processes are carried out to standard and correctly
- Application of vinyl onto a variety of surfaces including vehicles, windows and plastics.
- Applying graphics to a variety of substrates, including panels, fascias, windows and vehicles
- Carrying out fascia and post mounted installations using power tools and access equipment
- Preparation of substrates and vehicles ready for vinyl application
- Installation of all types of vehicle branding – including full vinyl wraps
- Scheduling your own work to ensure production and installation deadlines are met
- Maintaining in-house equipment by completing routine maintenance checks
- Working at height, must have a head for heights using equipment like scissor lifts
- Rectifying and reporting issues identified within production to ensure successful completion of the task.
- Assist in ensuring that the department is running efficiently and to optimum production.
- Liaise with other departments to ensure deadlines are met.
- Ensuring all signage is completed on time, to a quality standard consistent with the company’s vision.
- Check and maintain a high level of housekeeping within the department.
- Adhere to all company’s health & safety procedures.
- Travel as required on company business.
- Provide technical assistance/support where required.
- Training of junior team members.
- Carry out other duties as may reasonably be required and assigned by the business
Skills Required
- Clean Driving Licence
- Working knowledge of the signage industry is essential
- Work to a very high standard and have a keen eye for detail
- Able to work at heights
- Professional, flexible, enthusiastic, you are a good communicator, well organised and able to work alone as well as part of a team
- Understanding health & safety policies and procedures including working at heights and working with solvents
- Be able to complete paperwork to high standards, for recording and invoicing procedures
- Must have demonstrable experience and be able to fit signs, apply graphics and wrapping skills
