January Message from Our CEO
23 January 2025 • Sarah Medcraf

This week, we came together for our first event of the year - Shaping Our Future Together. The powerful takeaway was that relentless positivity, collaboration, and embracing opportunities are all crucial for us to thrive.
Collaboration is going to be critical in 2025. Whether we’re tackling staffing challenges, navigating regulations, or seizing opportunities in both traditional and emerging industries, Moray’s future depends on partnerships and bold strategies.
2025 has gotten off to a tough start. Some businesses have had to make the tough decision to cease trading, whilst the closure of the St Giles Centre has hit particularly hard on business owners and employees. Jobs have been lost, and businesses and livelihoods impacted. That’s why we’ve been supporting all businesses affected—not just members—because in times of crisis we must come together.

If you’ve been with us since the COVID days, you’ll remember how our hashtag temporarily changed from #TogetherWeGrow to #TogetherWeMoveForward. It felt right for the time and I know some of you are feeling this now.
We know the economic climate is challenging—sometimes just holding steady feels like a win—but we can't let it stop us from being ambitious. We need to keep striving to make Moray a brilliant place to live, work, visit, study, and, of course, do business.
Amidst the challenges, I’m proud to say that our membership continues to grow, and our retention remains high. That tells me you believe in the power of community, and that’s what keeps us going. We are Moray's all inclusive membership organisation representing our small exciting entrepreneurs to world renowned brands across all sectors. We, as an optional membership, strive to ensure that Moray's business voice is heard.
Finally, I just want to say a quick thank you to Aimee and Anna for their sterling work—they are incredible. We are a small but mighty team that I'm very proud of.
If you want to know more about what we’re up to, check the news section on our website. But here at Moray Chamber, we’re people people. Whether it’s a visit to our office or us coming to you, we’re always happy to connect.
