Elgin firm Highland Galvanisers celebrate six-figure funding boost from HIE

A longstanding metal treatment company has embarked on a multi-million-pound project aimed at preserving and improving its operations.
Highland Metals Limited, trading as Highland Galvanizers, is upgrading buildings, equipment and infrastructure at is premises in the town’s Pinefield Industrial Estate, Elgin where it employs 34 people.
The company has secured up to £130,000 investment from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) towards the cost of the project.
Established in 1978 to service the growing oil and gas industries of the time, Highland Galvanizers soon developed a reputation for high quality service. This led to the rapid expansion of its customer base across agriculture, construction, renewables, engineering, fencing, and general fabrication.
The investment from HIE will be used towards the purchase and installation of modern energy efficient plant and equipment aimed at improving process efficiency, reducing waste and carbon emissions. New plant and machinery will include cutting edge tank technology and upgrades to the process heat recovery system.
These investments will enhance the company’s capacity to support demand in a challenging marketplace, while reducing carbon emissions as part of its net zero journey will help to future proof the business safeguarding its 30-plus strong workforce and strengthening the contribution it makes to the local economy.
