Clan to conclude tenth anniversary in Moray with Ceilidh event

Clan Cancer Support is calling on fundraisers to take to the floor at its upcoming Ceilidh in Elgin this September to conclude the charity’s tenth anniversary celebrations in Moray.

The event will take place at Laichmoray Hotel in Elgin on Saturday, September 7 with entertainment from The Dandy Ceilidh Band.

Tickets are now available for £30 per person and include an arrival drink and a choice of either stovies or macaroni, with all proceeds from the evening helping to provide support services to local people impacted by a cancer diagnosis.

The ceilidh is part of a special programme of events curated by the charity and Cathedral Windows which has already raised £20,000.

Julie Ferguson, Clan’s Moray local services co-ordinator said: “We’d like to thank everyone who has supported our anniversary events so far. All fundraising from the local community is hugely appreciated and will help Clan provide support to people of all ages in the Moray region who have been impacted by a cancer diagnosis.

“We are very excited to be concluding our anniversary year with a Ceilidh on September 7 and we look forward to bringing the local community together for what we are sure will be an unforgettable night at Laichmoray Hotel in Elgin.”

The anniversary year events programme is being delivered in partnership with Cathedral Windows with the local business also coordinating a number of events in honour of Clan throughout the year.  

Fundraising efforts so far have included the 2023 Cavalcade, a Birthday Quiz at the Elgin District serviceman’s club, a Golf Day at Moray Golf Club and a curry night organised by Cathedral Windows and Qismat Indian restaurant in Elgin.

The Clan 2024 Cavalcade will also take place as part of the anniversary celebrations, with classic car enthusiasts invited to take a tour of the north-east on Friday, August 30.

Clan’s Elgin centre was officially opened in 2013 following the charity being established in Aberdeen in 1983.    

The charity offers a listening and support service for anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis, a dedicated children and families team to help young people and their loved ones navigate a cancer journey and NHS aligned complementary therapies.    

The centre on Elgin’s High Street is open from 10am – 4pm on Monday to Thursday with support available on a drop-in basis or by appointment.
