Moray Chamber of Commerce hosted a static cycling event at their offices in the Old Railway Station in Elgin on Friday. They teamed up with Anytime Fitness and MFR Cash for Kids to raise much needed funds to help sick, disabled and disadvantaged children from across the North.
After drumming up support and sponsorship from their membership, they had 8 spin bikes pedaling constantly throughout the day and raised an enormous £3000. Donations are still coming in from the donation buckets from the staff rooms of the participating businesses and the Everyday Hero online page is still open.
The aim of the day was to cycle to Landshut - Elgin’s twin town - which collectively they did and actually got 240 miles back towards Elgin! The winners, cycling over 236 miles over 8 hours was Anytime Fitness with Moray Chamber of Commerce and Gordon and Macphail taking 2
nd and 3
rd place respectively.
MFR presenter Ginno Conti cycled a marathon (26.2 miles) and the day had a great atmosphere which was added to by the MFR and Cash for Kids teams there supporting our cyclists.
Also on the day, which also had a Workplace Wellbeing theme, there were stalls from Highland Office Equipment with their adjustable standing desks, Manna Juice, Moray Sports Centre and NHS Healthy Working Lives to encourage businesses to become more aware of their wellbeing whilst at work.
Moray Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all of their members, sponsors and friends and family of those who took part. The money raised will be a great help to the vulnerable children living in Moray at the Highlands.
