Business & Wellbeing Economy Advisors Training

9 January 2024 • Sarah Medcraf

What is it?
A unique place-based training programme for business advisors from two regions in Scotland; Moray and Rural Perth & Kinross, based on Scotland CAN B’s Impact Journey methodology.

The aim of this programme is to build regional capacity amongst place-based business support intermediaries to help Scotland’s rural businesses to better understand, measure and manage the impact they create on their workforce, their local community, and the wider environment.

The programme is delivered in partnership with the Moray and Rural Perth & Kinross Local Action Groups (LAGs) and fully funded thanks to Scottish Government’s Community Led Local Development (CLLD) Collaboration Challenge Fund.

Who is it for?
This training is for enterprise support professionals who work directly with Scottish entrepreneurs and businesses, supporting & advising them on a daily basis.

In this programme we are seeking to recruit a spectrum of advisors from across the region which represents the range of support available to businesses in the area.

This may include advisors from the Enterprise Agencies, business support intermediaries, business membership networks like the Chambers of Commerce or FSB, sectoral business networks, and third sector interfaces.

What will you learn?

You will learn how to help the businesses you support be able to understand, measure, manage and improve the contributions they make towards Scotland’s transition to a Wellbeing Economy.

The training will help you to bring together a range of different emerging priorities such as Business Purpose, Fair Work, Net Zero, Diversity & Inclusion, ESG and Impact Reporting into a comprehensive and coherent approach to business impact accountability.

How is the programme structured?

There are three phases to the programme:
Part 1: Advisors Induction

Join us for two half-day online events, as we bring together Advisors from both Moray and Perth & Kinross. We will meet, set intentions for the programme and orientate the group with the Impact Journey principles, content and tools.

Part 2: Impact Journey training

Local businesses will join each cohort, to participate ‘live’ in the Impact Journey training delivered by Scotland CAN B, alongside Advisors. This phase will be place-based, with parallel streams for Moray businesses and Advisors and Perth & Kinross businesses and Advisors.

This format is designed to allow Advisors to transfer their training into action straight away by providing tailored 1:1 support to a local business using the tools and frameworks provided.

Part 3: Learning Exchange

All participants from both places will gather together in Aviemore to exchange and celebrate the learning between regions, as well as stepping back to consider the potential future trajectory of the work.

You can secure up to 2 places for your organisation, by registering using the form linked below.

Please remember to indicate on the form whether you are seeking access to the bursary fund to cover your time for your organisation or any other costs which would enable your full participation (such as childcare).
