Please name the main purpose of your business.
Helping companies to manage resources to reduce waste and achieve carbon net zero in a cost effective way. We are experts in energy, water and waste management. We also offer a range of industrial facilities management services.
What are the benefits to operating in Moray?
It is a fantastic place to live with some very interesting industries, so the work / life balance is really good. We are lucky to have meaningful employment in such a great place to live. Because we are a relatively remote area, I think companies tend to collaborate and support each other more than is perhaps the case elsewhere.
How do you connect to your local customers?
Direct contact, industry associations, Moray chamber of commerce, marketing campaigns, invites to see existing operations in action. Although we are part of a multinational company, we act as a small and flexible team in Moray, so we can quickly adapt to meet the requirements of local customers.
Why are you part of Moray Chamber of Commerce?
To make contacts to grow our business locally whilst helping other companies achieve their own resource efficiency goals.
What are you most proud of?
Veolia’s stated ambition is to become the benchmark for Ecological Transformation - working hand in hand with stakeholders to find solutions for the economic, social and environmental challenges that we currently face and which will become ever more difficult to tackle in the future. I am proud to work for a company that has this objective as a cornerstone of its strategy and does, I believe, practice what it preaches.
Finally, name one misconception that people have about your business.
People may see us as working only in water treatment, waste or energy (or have no knowledge of us whatsoever) rather than operating across all three disciplines. Although we have a global presence, our profile locally is relatively low and people do not realise the breadth of expertise and solutions we can offer across the whole ecological transformation and resource efficiency spectrum. Many people would be unaware that we already operate municipal water treatment plants along the Moray coast, help companies save money on their retail water contracts and also have a large bioenergy plant at Roseisle, avoiding significant amounts of fossil fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.
