Outfit Moray
February 2025
We caught up with Karen from Outfit Moray for an insight into the business.
Please name the main purpose of your business.
Outfit Moray are an outdoor learning and adventure charity delivering activities for young people in Moray, including those who are vulnerable or disadvantaged, as well as their families. Through their Bike Revolution social enterprise project, Outfit Moray aim to make cycling more accessible and affordable by selling refurbished donated bikes and providing bike servicing, repairs and hire. They also deliver Cycling Scotland’s Bikeability programme, as well as adaptive cycling sessions for young people and adults.
What are the benefits to operating in Moray?
We are incredibly lucky to have Moray as our classroom and playground. There are so many great locations to deliver outdoor activities such as paddleboarding, mountain biking, gorge walking, canoeing, kayaking, white water rafting, rock climbing and coasteering.
How do you connect to your local customers?
Mainly through our Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn accounts, as well as Mailchimp newsletters.
Why are you part of Moray Chamber of Commerce?
To promote and grow our social enterprise projects such as first aid training, first aid event cover and team building/corporate days, the income from which we reinvest to deliver our programme of activities and help make more sustainable by being less reliant on fundraising income.
What are you most proud of?
The difference we make to the lives of young people who take part in our activities through schools, youth groups and social services and, as such, the communities of Moray.
Finally, name one misconception that people have about your business.
That we are fully funded by Moray Council or Scottish Government. We are wholly self-funded through fundraising and income generation.
